The Hairdressing & Beauty Suppliers Association Annual General Meeting, 6th and 7th May 2011
The location of the HBSA annual general meeting varies every year. The Association members are scattered throughout the UK and Eire so it there is a sense of fairness to change the distance that each member travels.
Over the recent years we have been to Cardiff, Paris, Exmouth, Coventry, Barcelona, Gleneagles in Scotland and this year to the Goodwood Park Hotel in Chichester. At the AGM this year the feedback from majority of members was to keep it in the UK next year as foreign travel is often more time consuming and with sterling still week against the Euro, expensive.
The AGM has always been billed as a “family weekend” where members can bring their wives and partners to share the time with industry colleagues. Hotels are chosen for their facilities, golf courses, for those who like to play, spa facilities for those who prefer a different kind of indulgence. The Friday and Saturday evenings provide entertainment and a further opportunity to get to know others in the industry.
The annual general meeting is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10.30am for those who want to join us for the meeting only. Most members do make a weekend of it.
This year the venue is Yorkshires most prestigious hotel, the stunning Oulton Hall Hotel and Spa. It is situated closed to the motorway links and just five miles from Leeds town centre and the rail links.
The cost of the weekend is £380 per person sharing a double room and £450.00 per person in a single room. This includes accommodation, food and the entertainment.
For the past few years the AGM has coincided with St Georges day but Easter is later next year so we are moving to May 6th and 7th 2011.
This time of year is peak wedding season so I need to confirm rooms quickly if I am to guarantee places. To book you place please e-mail your details to hbsa@btconnect.com. You wont be disappointed.
The HBSA Summer Party 2010
The HBSA Annual Summer Party guests once again took the lift to up to the Kensington Roof Gardens as the warmth of the evening sun encouraged them to enjoy a glass (or two) of Pimms in the beautiful gardens. The Flamingos were there in force as all four of them preened themselves for the cameras.
The event was well supported with one hundred and forty two members and guests mingling and doing what they do best when off duty. The weather and conversation was so good; it took all of twenty minutes for the banqueting staff to encourage diners to the table.
The food at the Roof Gardens is always good but this year Chef Bonito excelled himself with a great meal, the feedback from guests on the Beef (vegetarians excepted) was very positive!
After dinner David Vickers welcomed members and guests and introduced Peter Belcher who encouraged them to part with £1190.00 with his “heads and tails game” the prize of £250.00 of John Lewis Vouchers was donated by Schwarzkopf and won by Mr Lucky from Goldwell….Mitch Lucas! The money will be donated to Hair Raisers, John Frieda’s charity for the children of Great Ormond Street.
The remainder of the evening was a mixture of social networking, strolling in gardens and enjoying the night air and the peace that the Roof Top garden provides. Inside the disco played a mixture of music to provide a backdrop for the various conversations.
David Vickers and the Council would like to thanks members, guests and supporters for making the event a night not to be missed.
Make sure you put the date in your diary for next year, 4th July 2011.
